John 13:33-38<\/strong>
33 <\/sup>Jesus said, \u201cMy children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and what I told the Jews, I tell you now: Where I am going you cannot come. 34 <\/sup>\u201cI give you a new command: Love each other. You must love each other as I have loved you. 35 <\/sup>All people will know that you are my followers if you love each other.\u201d 36 <\/sup>Simon Peter asked Jesus, \u201cLord, where are you going?\u201d
Jesus answered, \u201cWhere I am going you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.\u201d 37 <\/sup>Peter asked, \u201cLord, why can\u2019t I follow you now? I am ready to die for you!\u201d 38 <\/sup>Jesus answered, \u201cAre you ready to die for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will say three times that you don\u2019t know me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judges 12: 4-6<\/strong>
4 <\/sup>Then Jephthah called the men of Gilead together and fought the men of Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, \u201cYou men of Gilead are nothing but deserters from Ephraim\u2014living between Ephraim and Manasseh.\u201d 5 <\/sup>The men of Gilead captured the crossings of the Jordan River that led to the country of Ephraim. A person from Ephraim trying to escape would say, \u201cLet me cross the river.\u201d Then the men of Gilead would ask him, \u201cAre you from Ephraim?\u201d If he replied no, 6 <\/sup>they would say to him, \u201cSay the word \u2018Shibboleth.\u2019\u201d The men of Ephraim could not say that word correctly. So if the person from Ephraim said, \u201cSibboleth,\u201d the men of Gilead would kill him at the crossing. So forty-two thousand people from Ephraim were killed at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew 26:69-75<\/strong>
69 <\/sup>At that time, as Peter was sitting in the courtyard, a servant girl came to him and said, \u201cYou also were with Jesus of Galilee.\u201d 70 <\/sup>But Peter said to all the people there that he was never with Jesus. He said, \u201cI don\u2019t know what you are talking about.\u201d 71 <\/sup>When he left the courtyard and was at the gate, another girl saw him. She said to the people there, \u201cThis man was with Jesus of Nazareth.\u201d 72 <\/sup>Again, Peter said he was never with him, saying, \u201cI swear I don\u2019t know this man Jesus!\u201d 73 <\/sup>A short time later, some people standing there went to Peter and said, \u201cSurely you are one of those who followed Jesus. The way you talk shows it.\u201d 74 <\/sup>Then Peter began to place a curse on himself and swear, \u201cI don\u2019t know the man.\u201d At once, a rooster crowed. 75 <\/sup>And Peter remembered what Jesus had told him: \u201cBefore the rooster crows, you will say three times that you don\u2019t know me.\u201d Then Peter went outside and cried painfully.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
