In those days the word of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0was rare;\u00a0there were not many visions.<br><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>One night Eli, whose eyes\u00a0were becoming so weak that he could barely see,\u00a0was lying down in his usual place.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>The lamp\u00a0of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house\u00a0of the\u00a0Lord, where the ark\u00a0of God was.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>Then the\u00a0Lord\u00a0called Samuel.<br>Samuel answered, \u201cHere I am.\u201d\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>And he ran to Eli and said, \u201cHere I am; you called me.\u201d<br>But Eli said, \u201cI did not call; go back and lie down.\u201d So he went and lay down.<br><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>Again the\u00a0Lord\u00a0called, \u201cSamuel!\u201d And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, \u201cHere I am; you called me.\u201d<br>\u201cMy son,\u201d Eli said, \u201cI did not call; go back and lie down.\u201d<br><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>Now Samuel did not yet know\u00a0the\u00a0Lord: The word\u00a0of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0had not yet been revealed\u00a0to him.<br><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>A third time the\u00a0Lord\u00a0called, \u201cSamuel!\u201d And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, \u201cHere I am; you called me.\u201d<br>Then Eli realized that the\u00a0Lord\u00a0was calling the boy.\u00a0<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>So Eli told Samuel, \u201cGo and lie down, and if he calls you, say, \u2018Speak,\u00a0Lord, for your servant is listening.\u2019\u201d So Samuel went and lay down in his place.<br><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>The\u00a0Lord\u00a0came and stood there, calling as at the other times, \u201cSamuel! Samuel!\u201d<br>Then Samuel said, \u201cSpeak, for your servant is listening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mark 2:23 &#8211; 3:6<\/strong><br><sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>One Sabbath day, as Jesus was walking through some fields of grain, his followers began to pick some grain to eat.\u00a0<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>The Pharisees said to Jesus, \u201cWhy are your followers doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath day?\u201d<br><sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered,\u00a0\u201cHave you never read what David did when he and those with him were hungry and needed food?\u00a0<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>During the time of Abiathar the high priest, David went into God\u2019s house and ate the holy bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And David also gave some of the bread to those who were with him.\u201d<br><sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus said to the Pharisees,\u00a0\u201cThe Sabbath day was made to help people; they were not made to be ruled by the Sabbath day.\u00a0<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>So then, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.\u201d<br><strong>3\u00a0<\/strong>Another time when Jesus went into a synagogue, a man with a crippled hand was there.\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>Some people watched Jesus closely to see if he would heal the man on the Sabbath day so they could accuse him.<br><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to the man with the crippled hand,\u00a0\u201cStand up here in the middle of everyone.\u201d<br><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus asked the people,\u00a0\u201cWhich is lawful on the Sabbath day: to do good or to do evil, to save a life or to kill?\u201d\u00a0But they said nothing to answer him.<br><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus was angry as he looked at the people, and he felt very sad because they were stubborn. Then he said to the man,\u00a0\u201cHold out your hand.\u201d\u00a0The man held out his hand and it was healed.\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>Then the Pharisees left and began making plans with the Herodians about a way to kill Jesus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To listen from here, click the links below or right-click + save link as\u2026 to download the audio file.
