Committees tend to\u00a0have short terms so you can serve the community in\u00a0many different ways\u00a0over the years. Members may be elected or\u00a0appointed, depending on the position, and the church is wonderful at discerning, encouraging, and supporting gifts you have to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=152\">TUMC Church Board<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=153\">Caring Team<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=154\">Preaching Team<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=155\">Worship Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=156\">Mission and Service Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=157\">Faith Formation Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=158\">Congregational Life Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=159\">Finance Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=160\">Gift Discernment Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=161\">Joint Management Committee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=162\">Property Coordination<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"index.php?page_id=163\">Pastor Congregation Relations Committee<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Members also serve on the boards of the\u00a0Mennonite New Life Centre, Aurora House, and\u00a0St. Clair O&#8217;Connor Community. Plus, there are many ongoing opportunities, such as\u00a0 teaching Faith Formation (Sunday School) classes, serving as a youth sponsor, mentoring, editing the\u00a0Place of Meeting newsletter, coordinating church decor and\u00a0flowers, playing instruments or joining an occasional choral group for the worship service, preparing for coffee hour, ushering\/greeting, helping with maintenance of our buildings, and serving as a representative for Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, Mennonite Church Canada, Mennonite Disaster Service,\u00a0Mennonite Central Committee, or Silver Lake Camp. TUMC also has ad hoc committees that form for short durations as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes a &#8220;sticky note board&#8221; goes up in the lobby to break big tasks into smaller chunks for individual volunteers, our version of the old &#8220;barn raising&#8221; tradition, where many hands make light work!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in getting involved, contact a committee chair directly (listed in the TUMC directory) or speak to a member of the Gift Discernment Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Service to one another Being on a committee or temporary task force at TUMC is a great way to connect, or reconnect, with other members and friends.
